论刘炳善随笔翻译风格——基于刘炳善译本《伊利亚随笔选》的分析

摘要

自翻译界出现“文化转向”以来，翻译被更多地视为一种创造性活动，译者地位也得到了有力的提升。对读者而言，译者也变得更加“显形”。作为英国散文翻译大家的刘炳善，译著丰富，翻译作品广受喜爱和好评，其翻译的《伊利亚随笔选》更是得到了翻译学者和普通读者的一致认可，成为该随笔集最受欢迎的经典译本之一。然而，令人遗憾的是，学界对其随笔翻译风格的研究仍留有一定空白。
　　《伊利亚随笔》是查尔斯·兰姆随笔创作的最高成就，具备鲜明的个人风格：作品题材平凡，情怀怀旧，笔致自由，亦庄亦谐，戏谑中暗含着个人心酸与丰厚的人道主义同情心。因此，在翻译兰姆作品时，其随笔风格的传译极为重要。本文旨在探讨，刘炳善是否捕捉到原著中的上述个人风格特色，并在译文中成功呈现；在再现这些风格特色时，刘炳善采取了何种翻译策略，并表现出了自己本人的何种典型表达方式，语言习惯等翻译风格。
　　本文以蒙娜·贝克提出的文学译者风格研究方法为宏观框架，以刘译《伊利亚随笔选》为研究文本，从译者文本选择、译者某种特定翻译策略偏好、典型表达方式等层面探讨刘炳善的随笔翻译风格。微观上，本文利用了刘宓庆提出的风格标记理论，对兰姆的《伊利亚随笔》进行风格上分析，以更好地分析刘炳善在翻译《伊利亚随笔》时所表现出的个人翻译风格。在探讨过程中，笔者引入高健的《伊利亚随笔》译本作为对比，从而更加清晰地分析刘炳善的翻译风格。从而得出结论，即刘炳善在有效地传递出原著风格的同时，自己的翻译风格也得到了显现。最后，笔者探讨了刘炳善译本获得成功的社会和个人因素。
　　笔者希望通过对刘炳善译本的研究，读者和学界可以对随笔翻译、兰姆随笔翻译及刘炳善随笔翻译风格有着更好的了解，对译者翻译风格研究领域有所帮助。
