机械设备说明书的语言特点及翻译方法——以《真空泵使用手册》笔译项目为例

摘要

随着中国经济的繁荣发展，越来越多的外国产品进入了中国市场。因此，将高品质的产品说明书提供给中国消费是非常必要的。然而，说明书翻译方面的研究主要集中在化妆品和药品说明书翻译。机械产品说明书的翻译研究十分有限。本文旨在通过分析机械产品说明书的特点，找到实用的翻译方法。
　　本文以《真空泵使用手册》笔译项目为例。该手册是爱德华公司的E2M28与E2M30型号的旋片式真空泵的使用说明书，原文为英文。分析了原文本的词汇特点，包括专业词汇、半专业词汇和普通词汇，合成词与缩略词，还介绍了文中的名词化结构和非谓语动词。从句法层面出发，分析了原文中省略句、长难句、祈使句和被动句的特点和用法。随后，介绍了该手册的语篇特征。在分析原文语言特点的基础上，列举了翻译过程中使用较多的翻译方法。从词法层面看，包括增词、减词和词性转换;从句法层面看，包括正反译法、语序调整、长句拆分，还有针对祈使句和被动句的翻译方法的详细介绍。在翻译过程中遇到了许多困难，却也收获颇多。通过分析该翻译项目的语言特点，从词汇和句子层面找到了实用又具体的机械说明书翻译方法。希望本文能对今后类似的翻译项目提供借鉴。
