目的论视域中的《红楼梦》中医术语英译研究：以霍克斯、闵福德译本为例

摘要

作为中国四大名著之一，《红楼梦》汇集了丰富的中华文化，是很多学者潜心研究的对象。自改革开放以来，随着国与国之间的文化经济交流日益频繁，《红楼梦》这部极具影响力的小说的英译本也受到了国内外的广泛关注。曹雪芹不仅是一位伟大的文学家，而且还是为造诣极深的医学家。在《红楼梦》中，曹雪芹对许多医药或医学诊断的详细描写，对推动故事发展及烘托人物都起到了重要作用。《红楼梦》一百二十回中的中医药语术语可分为药材、病症、诊断方法、处方药和中医原理五个部分。
　　目的论是功能翻译学派的主要组成部分，所包含的目的性原则为首要原则。本文以目的论为理论框架，对霍克斯和闵福德《红楼梦》译本中中医药用术语的翻译策略和方法进行系统研究。研究发现，霍克斯和闵福德多采用归化策略来处理中医药文化术语的翻译；另外，他们还灵活使用了直译、意译、增益、音译等方法。对于国外读者，霍克斯和闵福德译本易于理解并激发阅读兴趣，但不利于从中全面领略中国的医药文化。通过对这些中医术语翻译的研究，希望为中医英译以及中医药文化的传播提供借鉴和指导。
