基于语料库的中国高校英文版网页校长欢迎致辞翻译共性研究

摘要

迄今为止，对翻译共性的研究主要集中在文学翻译领域，翻译共性假设在高校外宣翻译中是否存在尚未得到系统证实。因此，本文试图通过语料库语言学的方法对中国高校英文官方网站上的校长欢迎致辞进行翻译共性研究，即显化、简化和范化假说研究。本文收集了中美高校网站上校长致辞各100篇，组成一个英文可比语料库，该语料库由两个子库构成:ETT（翻译英语）语料库和EST（原创英语）语料库，通过比较两个语料库，从多层面来研究显化、简化和范化。
　　在对显化的研究中，本文主要从缩写、连词、从句中可省引导词和人称代词主语的使用情况考察显化情况。研究发现，ETT中使用缩写形式、连词、人称代词主语的频率较EST更低而ETT中省略可省从句引导词的频率比EST更高。以上考量指标除了缩写情况这一点体现了显化的特征外，其余均反映不出ETT存在显化趋势。在简化的研究中，词汇层面，本文考察了标准型符/类符比、词汇密度、词汇难度、平均词长;在句子层面，本文考察了平均句长和文本的易读性系数。统计结果表明，词汇层面并没有体现出简化趋势，而在句子层面，简化假说成立。在范化的研究中，本文主要基于罕用词、高频词和新造词的使用情况研究词汇层面的范化;在句子层面，主要考察“with”独立结构和被动语态的使用情况。考察发现，不论是词汇层面或是句子层面，英文翻译文本均体现出范化的趋势。
　　本研究结果显示，ETT中存在范化的趋势，但是，显化和简化是否存在于在高校校长欢迎致辞翻译中仍然是不可确定的。鉴于本文使用的自建语料库规模较小，因而得出的数据在某种程度上说并未能完全说明问题。这要求对中国高校英文网站上的校长欢迎致辞翻译共性研究还需要建立更大规模的语料库和使用更丰富的研究方法。
