1. The climate in Denmark with average temperatures of approximately 0℃in the winter per iod has led to an extensive use of de- icing salts. I n manycases, these de- icing salts penet rate direct ly into the br idge decks andcolumns causing severe deter iorat ion of the structures due to cor rodedreinforcement and an enhancement of alkali-silica react ions ( if theconcrete is ASR sensit ive) .2. I n this paper it has been demonst rated how a complete rehabilitat ion ofbr idge decks subjected to de- icing salts can be under taken.3. Often rehabilitat ion can be combined with a simultaneous and cost -effect ive strengthening of moment and/ or shear capacity.4. Hoses cast in the concrete over lays is a inexpensive and efficient way tokeep the surface temperature up so water proofing can be car r ied out.
