The dyeing and finishing properties of polycarboxylic water-soluble sulfur black dye were studied by using various phosphates in association with dicyandiamide (DCDA) or triethanolamine as dyeing auxiliaries. The influences of the concentration of DCDA, phosphates, process and temperature of aftertreatment on the fixation of the dye on cotton were investigated in detail. In the presence of ammonium dihydrogen phosphate and triethanolamine, the fixation of polycarboxylic water-soluble sulfur black dye could be up to 97. 9% at 190℃, and the dyed fabric exhibits not only a grade 3 wet rubbing fastness but also good wrinkle recovery.
