Water is perhaps the most used of all natural resources. Water is often described as the universal solvent. The Great Salt Lake demonstrates that water can hold minerals in solution up to nearly 27% before salt crystals are deposited. Our day to day experience however is that water will drop out most of the calcium hardness it has dissolved when it is heated. Almost everyone knows that water should be conserved. This paper is about an advanced technology that is one year closer to becoming standard procedure to conserve water in cooling water applications. This paper is about the economics of water conservation. This paper also shows how simple it is to control scale deposition, corrosion, and organic fouling. Water conservation in cooling towers and evaporative coolers is now an option. It is a matter of education and application.
