Balancing Specialty and Commodity Surfactants in the Detergent Industry

First a short history will be presented of surfactants and the evolution of detergents into a highly sophisticated industry, followed by a discussion of the differences between specialty and commodity surfactants and how they coexist in the marketplace. Next, the focus will be on the role of surfactant sppliers and how they strive to meet market needs. Finally, an attempt will be made to define the future roles to be played by specialty and commodity surfactants.
