In this paper, the authors propose to control the temperature rise in wire after deformation through the drawing die, using a calculation method which includes a temperature rise in the deformation zone as well as a temperature drop in the block considering the heat transfer among the wire, cooling water and surrounding air. These calculated results of the wire temperature at the inlet and exit of the drawing die at each pass were compared with the measured wire temperatures and verified its efficiency. Based on the proposed wire temperature prediction method, the isothermal pass schedule program was developed to redesign the conventional pass schedule.
