Achieving certification to ISO 9000, the international quality standard, should be more than just a trophy hunt. When a business commits to making quality a centerpiece of its company-wide mission, undergoing the arduous process of certification can become a valuable opportunity to improve operations, raise customer satisfaction and increase profits. This paper will discuss how once a company is certified, it can continue improving its processes and become more profitable by building on the foundation established through ISO certification. It will also explore the impact of the upcoming ISO 9000:2000 standard revision.
