Fouling in plate heat exchangers is function of the plate geometry and fluid velocity and obviously a single value of the fouling resistance is not sufficient to cope with fouling. Experiments, carried out at GRETh on a semi-industrial test rig under well controled particulate fouling conditions, have shown that the asymptotic fouling resistance depends on the plate corrugation angle and fluid velocity. These results lead to design recommendations which are presented.
