1) Part straightness with submicron surface roughness was investigated for an HFAC power supply. By controlling the duration of discharging, equivalent part straightness of a tall punch to in grinding machining process can be achieved. Because of the lack of high skilled operators and high manufacturing costs in grinding process, WEDMing is replacing some part of surface grinding process. 2) Tip accuracy of narrow pin shape in WEDMing was also investigated for an HFAC power supply. By using the same condition as part straightness improvement, the heat concentration is prevented and 150% of L/W can be achieved in 0.16 mm width.
