The demonstration of a fit for purposerncriticality safety case for the handling,rnprocessing and storage of solid PlutoniumrnContaminated Material (PCM) waste at thernUnited Kingdom’s Sellafield Nuclear Complexrnhas, in recent years, required a number ofrnchallenges to be overcome. The origin of thesernchallenges lies chiefly in demonstratingrnappropriate substantiation of the fissile materialrninventory measurements performed by Non-rnDestructive Analysis (NDA) assay techniques.rnThis work has been partially funded by thernNuclear Decommissioning Authority.
