The effects of ultrasonic irradiation on digestion of diasporic bauxite are studied by measuring the relative digestion ratio of diasporic bauxite. Experimental research has been carried out at different digestion temperature and caustic concentrations. The results show that the ultrasonics can improve the digestion of diasporic bauxite. In the process of Bayer digestion irradiated by ultrasonic, both the digestion ratio and digestion rate rise. Compared to a conventional Bayer digestion of diasporic bauxite, the digestion time can be shortened by 20-40 minutes, the digestion temperature can be decreased by about 20℃, and the caustic concentration can be reduced over 20g/L. The mechanism by which ultrasonic irradiation affects the digestion of diasporic bauxite is discussed.
