Train traction calculation is applied into station-front turn-back capacity of urban rail transit. In the beginning, categories and operation progress of station-front turn-back were described and analyzed. Then, the minimal departure interval calculation formula of single track turn-back and double track turn-back was obtained. Based on these, the reasonable turn-back track number is suggested when the throat area cannot operate parallel. Then, the kinetic equation under the conditions of traction, coasting and breaking was proposed. Finally, the case study of subway station Wuluju in Beijing shows that the minimal departure interval of station-front turn-back of DKZ4 train was operated under energy-saving mode and time-saving mode: 121. 4 s and 120. 7 s using one turn-back track, 94.1 s and 93.5 s using two turn-back tracks. Compared with the time using average acceleration and deceleration, the values of leaving traction time and leaving traction distance are greater, which shows that the using of average acceleration and deceleration when the train leaving station will bring some error.
