摘要

The Baishuiyang in Pingnan County of Fujian Province,China,has charming scenery and is particularly distinguished by its wonderful shallow water square. Investigations have shown that the Baishuiyang is the flat bedrock-formed riverbed formed by long-term water flow erosion of the Jiul-ing and Xianpa Streams during a relative stable geological period. The quartz orthophyre is the main riverbed-forming rock and water flow erosion and weathering are the main exogenetic geological processes contributing to the formation of this distinguished riverbed. The flow erosion has also formed various erosional riverbed landforms such as water erosion-generated ripple marks on bedrocks, rocky ridges, rocky troughs,trough-like riverbeds,potholes,flow side erosion-generated caves,curved riverside-walls, wavy riverside-walls,and erosion terraces.
