Nickel hydrazine azide (NHA) was synthesized using several nickel contained salts under a reasonable control of pH during reacting process. The experiment shown that Ni(Ac)2·4H2O will give an ideal result as the salt for synthesis of NHA. The HAc solution was used to maintain the stable pH of the reacting system. As a powerful primary explosive, NHA could seek its application in civil and military area. Based on the X-ray diffraction (XRD) tests the unit cell parameters were obtained. With the X-ray photoelectron spectra (XPS), the coordinating condition between N and Ni could be inferred clearly. At last, the decomposition process would be recognized by thermal analyses. The Ea and A were calculated using the methods of Ozawa and Kissinger.
