Faults and Reasons Analysis for Wind Turbine Generator Gearbox

In the wind turbine with gearbox drive train concept,generator gearbox is the one of the easiest parts that breaks down in wind turbine.The article analyses and conclude nine types of generator gearbox faults: gear damage,bearing damage,gearbox cracking,corrosion,oil leakage,bolt damage,machine pump damage,abnormal sound and vibration,abnormal oil temperature or oil pressure.It describes the characteristics of each fault,reasons,prevention and repair methods.The article also analyses and concludes six types of main reasons that cause generator gearbox faults: design,material and heat treatment,manufacture,maintenance and storage,transportation and installation,and operation.
