Re-engineering and re-structuring have made the textile industry smaller. The quest forrncontinuous improvement has, in some cases, made us better. But today the industry is stillrnreplete with business that have been getting smaller faster than they have been getting better,rnand others that have been getting faster than they are becoming different.rnWe are called upon today to function in an environment of hyper-competition, an arenarncharacterized by discontinuity and an environment in which advantages are rapidly created,rnand just as rapidly destroyed, sometimes even in a cannibalistic-like ritual some haverncharacterized as "creative destruction."
