摘要

The aim of this paper is to present a summary about the design and construction methodologies and key characteristics of Roller Compacted Concrete (RCC) dams in Turkey.In parallel to the development of hydropower projects,there has been a significant increase in the number of RCC dams in Turkey in the recent years.At the moment,there are 22 RCC dams in operation and 24 under construction.It is intended to give brief information about the key properties of these dams including height,RCC volume,cross-section and geometry,RCC material,foundation characteristics,upstream face for watertightness,joints,lift joints,placement procedures,foundation-RCC contact and instrumentation.Moreover,some detailed information will be given about the design and construction of two important dams (which are in operation) in Turkey which are: Cindere Dam (H =107 m) as the highest hardfill dam in the world and the first hardfill dam in Turkey; and Ayval1 Dam (H =177m) as the highest RCC dam in Europe.
