Increaisng levels of recycled fiber, closing of white water systems, higher filler content, and converting to alkaline papermaking are a few of the changes that have provided challenges to the papermaker. Appropriate use of cationic polymers is one of the tools available to a papermaker to help meet these challenges. Cationic products based on polyethylenimine are used in several applications to help the papermaker achieve the objectives and also increase productivity. The polyethylenimine products are used in neutralization, fixation, promotion, retention, drainage, and formation applications.
