Worldwide sales of nonwovens grew by ten percent (10 percent) over the past five years, and it is forecasted that the growth will be between seven (7) percent and eight (8) percent compounded annual growth for the next five years. This paper analyzes the growth patterns for nonwoven sales and production technologies on a worldwide and regional basis. Specifically, sales and production processes will be estimated for the year 1999 for spunbond, meltblown and spunbond-meltblown composite (SMC) materials.
