Accelerating process of technological change: Opportunites and threats for developing countries

As we approach the twenty-first century, we find that many developed country based large firns are sucessfully expanding their business fortunes under the current globalization trend,, which is being propelled by the accelerated pace of technological change. Although technology is recognized to have a crucial role in achieving ocmpetitive advantage in an increasingly globalized marketplace, the technological gap between the winners and the losers is widenging at an alarming rate. thus, many have started to believe that, to ensure a peaceful and better tomorrow for humankind, this polarizatin must be remedied. However, the technology richare unlikely to give away their power and privileges. Hence, the responsibility to catch up rests heavily on the laggers. To explore the desirable initiatives in this direction, this paper analyzes the contemporary world developemnt setting and identifies both the golden opportunities and the looming threats in an increasingly interdependent world. It also discusses the imperatives for developing countries, in their attempt to try to take advantage of the accelerated proces of technological change.
