Abstract: The mathematical rationale behind frequency selective surfaces is discussed. Two strategies - one based on exciting standing surface acoustic waves in a piezoelectric film, and the other on arrays of arrays of piezoelectric capacitors - are outlined to obtain tunable frequency selective surfaces. !8
