Topology Design of Bistable Mechanisms

We use topology optimization to synthesize compliant mechanisms that exhibit snap-through and bistable behavior. The nonlinear elastic finite element responses from multiple load cases are solved using iterative-incremental numerical methods. The design strategy is discussed, and examples are presented.
