WIDE FIELD ASTRONOMY WITH SMALL SIZE TELESCOPES

We present our ongoing project of compact wide-field optical instrumentation based on the IASF design of two-mirror, three-reflection telescopes (2MTRT), for ground and space-based observatories, and discuss preliminary tests made with a 45 cm F/5 active optics warping telescope. We also describe a 30 cm F/3 prototype, and the new 4kx4k CCD detector and the system architecture of the CCD controller. Astrophysical applications include discovery of potentially hazarduous NEAs, extrasolar planetary transits, and systematic studies of stellar variability in rich fields.
