Abstract: Within the framework of nonlinear optics we present and discuss data of intracavity four-wave mixing within the active volume of semiconductor lasers and amplifiers and demonstrate both their importance for an understanding of the fundamental nonlinear and ultrafast processes in semiconductor waveguide devices and their potential for photonic applications. !24
