The open famework material, CaFe_2O_4 and the isostructural solid solution phases, Li_yCa_(1-(x+y)/2)Sn_xFe_(2-x)O_4, where 0600 mGh/g within the voltage vindow of 3.0-0.005 V. The porfile of the electronic density plots suggest there is no phase separation to Li/Sn alloy phases on reduction, but rather a lithium-rich, oxygen deficient Sn/Fe/oxide matrix is formed.
