摘要

Our studies demonstrated that pro-healing macrophages accelerate the SC migration up to 3 times in vitro which can positively contribute to more axonal growth in vivo. Our studies also revealed that there is a direct correlation between ratio of pro-healing to pro-inflammatory macrophages and rate of axonal regeneration in critically sized rat nerve gap model in vivo. These results are complementary to a growing body of evidence that demonstrate a direct correlation between macrophage phenotype and the regeneration outcome in various tissues.
