The titanium concentrate produced in Panzhihua mine in China can not be used as raw material tornproduce titanium white by chlorinating method, because the TiO_2 grade of titanium concentrate isrnvery low and the impurities is high. In order to improve the TiO_2 grade and decrease the impuritiesrnof the titanium concentrate, flotation is adopted for the common titanium concentrate and the TiO_2rngrade was improved and the impurities of titanium concentrate decreased through deep cleaning.rnThe processing technique is beneficial to producting the high TiO_2 grade titanium residue. The resultrnshows that the TiO_2 grade of titanium concentrate is raised from 46.78 per cent to 50.37 per centrnand the recovery of TiO_2 in titanium concentrate is 77 per cent. The grade of SiO2, Al_2O_3 and CaO ofrntitanium concentrate are reduced respectively to 0.43 per cent, 0.97 per cent and 0.24 per cent byrnusing compound medicament XK-1 as a collector, oxalic acid and CMC as depression and throughrnthree-stage cleaning. XRD and electron micro-scope analysis of ordinary and the deep cleaningrntitanium concentrate indicates that the magnesium oxide exists in the form of the MgTiO_3 andrndisperses evenly in ilmenite in very tiny particles, which can not be observed under electron microscope.rnIt is difficult to liberate the tiny particles from ilmenite, therefore, flotation can not separaternMgTiO_3 from ilmenite. Other chemical processing methods should be considered in order to removernmagnesium oxide.
