BIOREMEDIATION POTENTIAL OF AMARANTHACEAE

The importance of selected species of Amaranthaceae (Amaranthus spinosus, Alternanthera philoxeroides and A. sessilis) for their bioremediation potential, capacity to bioconcentrate essential and non-essential elements from biosolid- and sewage-contaminated sites, aggressive colonizing capability on biosolids and sewage sludge, and concomitant nutritional implications are highlighted in this presentation.
