An Agent-Based Approach to Just-in-Time Communication

Various approaches are under study to the problem of agent communications using low-level or high-level protocols in terms of cooperation, negotiation and collaboration. Most of these approaches, however, require a sophisticated agent structure. The paper presents the ongoing work of agent communications based on a simple agent structure. Referring to the idea of demand-oriented supply in Just-in-Time (JIT) delivery, the paper proposes a new concept of Just-inTime Communication (JITC) for multi-agent systems. Using a case study of simple path planning problem, the paper shows how JITC works to solve problems with collaboration of multiple agents based on simple structures.
