When you are in a position that relies on student employees as thernmajority of your workforce, there are many issues that you mustrnhandle and it is imperative to put the most efficient system intornplace. At the University of Missouri-Columbia, IAT Services, ourrnorganization employs approximately 175 students per semester. Thernprocesses that we have in place for hiring, training and performancernevaluations are continuously being revamped and improved upon byrnour staff and employees. We have a common goal: minimize thernamount of time spent on these tasks. Some of the many ways wernhave minimized our time were by automating most of our processesrnwith online applications, renewal applications, availability, andrntraining. We have also tried to maximize our time by settingrndeadlines one year in advance by creating a master calendar. For thernfull time staff we are able to better prepare and in turn prepare ourrnstudent employees for what to expect and when to expect it. Historyrnhas shown us that the better prepared we are, the better prepared ourrnstudent employees will be. The following paper and presentationrnwill review the streamlined system we have adopted that makes ourrnhiring, training and the evaluation process more efficient.
