A New Technology for the Metering of Low Quality Steam

The use of saturated mixtures of water for the purpose of steam flooding is common to heavy oil production operations. Thesernmulti-phase flows require the implementation of technology to simultaneously meter the saturated gas and saturated liquidrnfractions comprising the flow to obtain accurate thermal allocation information. A new technology has been developed to servernthis purpose. We have designed a measurement system to measure two phase fluid flows whose total volume flow rate is 85 torn100% gas (85-100 gas volume fraction (GVF)).. By carefully designing a system that is non-intrusive and flow regimernindependent, we have produced a metering technology that can accurately meter wet steam flows over a wide range of flow rates.
