The refurbishment of Rannoch Power Station including replacement of the spiral casing

Rannoch Power Station is nominally a 45 MW output, three unit hydro generating station operation on 144m head originally commissioned in the early 1930's. The station is located in Scotland in the Tummel valley which runs from the famous Rannoch moor above Glencoe on the West coast to Pitlochry in Strath Tay in the East. The headwater for Rannoch Power Station is taken from Loch Ericht, a high and remote reservoir in the central Grampians. Rannoch is used as base load for the Tummel group of stations, black start facilities being provided from elsewhere.
