The profession of Value Analysis is shrinking. Onecontributor to its lost momentum is the proliferation ofnames for the profession, leaving Value Analysis andSAVE International without any clear-cut identity.When a value practitioner describes his/her professionas some combination of'VE/VA/VM/VC/VR/VP/V — et cetera,' we oftensee the audience shaking its collective head and smiling.When we ask why, we are told that if we can't decide whatto name our profession, there must not be much to it. It'shard to come up with an effective response to such anattitude. Downright embarrassing.This paper proposes a solution to the problem of theplethora of names for our profession.
