摘要

The paper describes a new technology for the production of lightweight aggregates based on sand and dust that appeared from the processing of construction and demolition waste. The technology is suitable especially for high-grade utilization of masonry waste. The masonry waste is ground to particle sizes < 100 μm at first. Then granules are formed without addition of a binding agent. The following burning process results in a consolidation of the pellets. The bulk density of the material can be controlled in a wide range by the addition of expanding agents before burning. The main properties of the aggregates are equivalent to the aggregates introduced on the market such as expanded clay. Further it was shown, that the aggregates are suitable for the production of lightweight concrete blocs with excellent frost resistance und good heat insulation.
