The development of fibre-reinforced concretes has been going on for almost 100 years. In spite of this, the use of fibre-reinforced concretes in the building practice is more or less sporadic. The cause is usually the uncertainty of a designer, whether or not the actual qualitative properties of fibre-reinforced concretes acquired in situ will fulfil expectations of the building design. It is not any exception that after adding fibres, properties of fibre-reinforced concretes are worse than with non-reinforced concretes. Whereas the measuring methods and procedures are almost perfect, when designing a fibre-reinforced concrete mix, we are almost wholly dependent on an experiment with all its advantages and disadvantages. That is why the submitted contribution deals with a possibility of mathematical modelling the fibre-reinforced concrete mix. Limiting parameters for a basic gravel-sand mix and for individual elements of microreinforcement are determined here and limits of their volume concentration in the mix are set. That way the opening of large grains of aggregates is prevented and the density of concrete and the highest achievable quality of concrete are conditioned.
