Assessing Students' Level of Skills after Industrial Training Course: UKM Engineering Students' Perceptions

Industrial training is one of the conditions required for each student in certain programmes at all levels of higher education in the Institute of Higher Education. This programme was introduced to provide the learning opportunities in the workplace as an experience in order to enhance students employability. This study reviews the assessment on the level of skills using Rasch Measurement model. The assessment are based on 2010/2011 UKM engineering students' perception on seven skills criteria after they completed their industrial training. The finding indicates that the most difficult skill to be performed is leadership, while the easiest skills is ability to listen and respond. The results also shows that based on the students perception the leadership skills, ability to express ideas and discussion skills were improved.
