The Rural Labor Working in Urban Areas and the Employment of Urban Work Force: Compatible or Exclusive? —based on the perspective of the improved Model of Heterogeneous Productive Factors

The paper, based on the improved heterogeneous medium model, analyzes whether the rural labor working in cities is compatible with or exclusive against the employment of urban workforce. The rural labor and urban workers possess different endowment of human resources and they are heterogeneous medium productive factors. The data acquired by calculating the complementary elasticity between them according to Hicks’ complementary elasticity formula, suggests that they are complementary. Therefore, the rural labor working in urban areas is generally compatible with the employment of urban labor. It has a positive impact on the employment of urban work force, so the restrictions of rural labor are unreasonable and the discriminatory policies of them are unfair.
