Innovative modular, low voltage (80 to 150 keV), high beam current (up to 40 ma), electron beam (EB) emitters have been developed by Advanced Electron Beams. These EB units typically have 25 cm of beam width and are housed in evacuated, returnable housings that are easy to plug in and connect. The latest in metal fabrication techniques has enabled AEB to use an ultra-thin beam window. The power supply for these EB units is based on solid-state electronics. This combination results in a remarkable electrical efficiency. AEB has developed a touch screen, computer control system. With 100 microns of unit density beam penetration, these electron beams have gained market acceptance in the curing of opaque, pigmented inks and coatings used on flexible substrates and on metals and in the curing of adhesives as used in foil laminates and as pressure sensitives.
