摘要

Objective: To investigate expression level of ELFN2 mRNA and the status of methylation in ELFN2 promoter region in glioma tissues and cell lines and to explore the possible mechanism of ELFN2 enhanced transcriptioa Methods: RT-PCR was introduced to detect mRNA expression level of ELFN2; luciferase reporter assay was conducted to confirm the promoter region of ELFN2 and methylation specific PCR (MSP) was performed to investigate the methylation status of promoter region. Results- ELFN2 mRNA was overexpressed in U251, SF767, U87 and SHG44 cells. The promoter region of ELFN2 was a typical CpG island, and it hypomethylated in glioma tissues and cells. Thus, the expression of ELFN2 was correlated with methylation status of promoter. Conclusions: The hypomethylation of ELFN2 CpG island could activated its transcription.
