The National Ignition Campaign (NIC) began ignition experiments on NIF in FY2010. The culmination of target fabrications' efforts will produce an ignition target which meets or exceeds the physics requirements. The ignition target includes both a cryogenic base, which supports the electrical, thermal and gas fill connections to the ignition target inserter cryostat (ITIC), and the ignition hohlraum assembly which is supported by the Thermal-Mechanical Package (TMP). The target base contains a reservoir assembly which will carry the fuel and support filling the capsule in order to produce an ice layer. The ignition hohlraum design contains windows for viewing the ice layer with x-ray imaging systems. We will discuss ignition target requirements and how these have been met with current target design, fabrication, assembly and metrology.
