A practical model is developed by integrating pipe-soilrninteraction model with the vector form intrinsic finite elementrn(VFIFE) method. The soil resistance in axial direction ofrnpipeline is taken into account by elasto-frictional method. Thernsoil reactions in the lateral and vertical directions of pipelinernare simulated by a force-resultant model (so-called bubblernmodel). An automatic method is developed to simulaternpipe-soil contacting and separating phenomenon in dynamicalrnanalysis. A series of cases are studied. The displacements ofrnsimulation compare well with DNV. The static momentrnformula of DNV is modified by contrast with simulationrnresults, which are appropriate for interaction of the studiedrnpipeline with sandy seabed.
