Organic Compounds and Suspended Matter in the Marine Ice of the Eastern Antarctic

Organic compounds data (including dissolved and suspended lipids and hydrocarbons, suspended organic matter) as well as suspended matter (SM) concentration in snow, sea ice and subice water in coastal zone of East Antarctic are considered. The data were obtained are received during the 46 and 48 Russian Antarctic Expedition (18th and 19th icruses of r/v "Akademic Fedorov" in 2001 and 2003). It is shown, that variations in concentration and distribution of the above substances are related to thecoherent to ice forming conditions and to the processes, which occur whenin ice forms and in the interaction of thecontacting with ice snow and sub ice water. The SM together with organic compounds is accumulated in layers characterized with intense autochthonous processes (in snow-ice and sub ice-water interfaces in the first instance). These zones stay biogeochemically active even under low temperature conditions. The highest concentrations of organic compounds and the biggest variations in their proportions have been found in areas surrounded by with the penguin colonies (fast ice near Buromsky Island and Haswell Island's lake).
