A STUDY ABOUT RETURN ADDRESSES OF UNSOLICITED E-MAILS

摘要

The growing problem of unsolicited bulk email, also known as junk mail, unsolicited commercial email,rnor "spam", has generated a need to identify the return address of "spam". This paper investigates andrnanalyzes the return addresses of 798 unsolicited e-mails. Over 70% of the unsolicited e-mails had anrninvalid return address, for reasons discussed here. An e-mail server can use thus use the invalidity ofrnreturn addresses to filter out unsolicited e-mails.
