This paper presents a new method of incorporation fuzzyrnsystem into Genetic Algorithm in order to tune anrnoptimum fuzzy system for control of STATCOMrncompensator to improve an industrial busbar voltagernprofile. Since the power quality is one of most importantrncharacteristics of power system, therefore, its fluctuationrnand flicker compensation in a short time is one of mostrnimportant terms.rnFACTS devices revealed by developments in powerrnelectronic. The FACTS devices response time is very lowrnand its controller response time has to be suitable. Delayrnis an inherent characteristic of classical controller, so thernclassical controller is not a useful controller for control ofrnFACTS devices. In order to have a faster speed in control,rnwe choose the controller based on fuzzy system.rnRegarding the complexity of tuning of fuzzy controller,rnuse of trial and error method to tune it is not applicablernand updated numerical methods must get used. As arnresult, Genetic Algorithm as a powerful numeric method,rnwhich is able to probe many situations in a same step andrnhelp us to catch the best result, got selected.rnTwo different ways have been used for tuning of TSKrnfuzzy system and at the end; their responses has gotrncompared.
