Comparison of the Growth of Five Magnoliaceous Trees in Ecological Scenic Forests in Zhongshan, Guangdong, China

摘要

Using five tree species of the Magnoliaceae (Michelia macclurei, Manglietia chevalieri, Paramichelia baillonii, Michelia maudiae and Tsoongiodendron odorum) in the stand improvement of the Pinus massoniana forest, the authors observed the growth of these trees in four experiment sites. The results show that in regard to the DBH, the species arranged in order from higher to lower are Michelia maudiae > Manglietia chevalieri > Paramichelia baillonii > Michelia macclurei > Tsoongiodendron odorum; in regard to the tree height average increased each year, they are Paramichelia baillonii > Michelia maudiae > Manglietia chevalieri > Michelia macclurei > Tsoongiodendron odorum; in regard to the canopy diameter average increased each year, they are Paramichelia baillonii > Manglietia chevalieri > Michelia macclurei > Michelia maudiae > Tsoongiodendron odorum.
