Comparative dyeing kinetics of poly (trimethylene terephthalate) fiber with emodin natural dyes using conventional and ultrasonic methods were studied in this paper. The plot of time/dye-uptake of both methods showed that the dye-uptake values of ultrasound dyed samples were obviously higher than those prepared by the conventional heating method. The values of dyeing rate constant,diffusion coefficient and half-time of dyeing and activation energy were calculated. The results showed that ultrasonic could evidently enhance the rate constant of dye progress,shorten half-dyeing time,increase the diffusion coefficients and decrease the activation energy,which positively indicated a favorable effect of ultrasonic power on the dyeing process.
