Amacroscopic model has been developed which describes feeding during equiaxed non-dendritic solidificatin.In the analysis,the mushy zone is divided into several distinct regions,each having a set of mechanical and solidification characteristics; each region is thus governed by different transport mechanisms and solidification kinetics.The mathematical model,which has been developed,couples the macroscopic transport process with microscopic solidification kinetics for the various regions of the mushy zone.The phenomenology of feeding during solidification is reviewed,and the constitutive equations of the model are discussed.
